Derek “Bru”

Derek or “Bru” as we call him, has been the best addition to our family we ever could have asked for. Born and raised surfing some of South Africa’s heaviest breaks, Bru is a true waterman and a great addition to our team of coaches. After years of traveling around the globe - chasing waves and exploring the beauties the world has to offer - he unfortunately had to head home due to issues with the pandemic. Because of that Bru found himself back in South Africa waiting for the next opportunity to hop on a plane. After a few phone calls and an intro from a mutual friend, Derek found himself here with us in Montauk. We couldn’t be more stoked to have our first international coach with us, and you should be too. The knowledge he possesses is hard to come by and is something any surfer should look to learn from. He is amazing with kids and surfers of all skill levels and ages. Book Derek for a “lekker” of a session you won’t soon forget!
